Prayers in the Sunday Services
As part of our desire for prayer at EMC we would like again to offer the opportunity for members of the congregation to share in leading the prayers in the services. This is not a new idea as it has happened in the past, so please, if you have done it before, or you would like to take part now, sign up on the sheet at the ‘volunteering table’ or speak to Peter or Kathryn Thompson or Judith Wakelin. Prayers can be extemporary but are often written out beforehand, so please think about whether this is something you could offer. There will be an opportunity after the summer to meet together and look at issues relating to speaking from the front using the microphone for anyone who would find that helpful.
Prayer Requests and Prayer Pyramid
If you have any requests for prayer will you please ring me and not send an email. Thank you. Carol Stringer
We are pleased to be holding a training session for all those who read the lesson in church and we would be pleased to add new people to the rota. This will take place on Saturday 22nd September 10.00am to 11.30am in church. Sign-up sheets will be in church in September.
New opportunities in Roots
Are you interested in developing a Chaplaincy service within Roots? This is an exciting opportunity for outreach within the Church on a volunteer basis. The role will involve helping the managers as directed, but there is no expectation that you will be working with the coffee machines or handling money, but offering a friendly helpful service to our guests in Roots; ideal for those who like meeting people, chatting with them and listening to them. Please contact Jane Williams or Val Imms on 01372 720590.
Are you able to help in the Creche?
Playing with young children makes you feel younger and it’s fun! The number of families attending EMC with young children is increasing. So we need more volunteers to help run the creche, for children under 3, during the 10.30 service. If you feel you can help with this, once every 6-8 weeks or so, this would be greatly appreciated.
For safeguarding purposes a minimum of two people at each session are required. The necessary safeguarding training would be provided by the Sutton Circuit within 6 months of being involved in the rota. The training lasts only 2-3 hours; it’s done in small groups, and is updated every 5 years.
If you are able to help or would like any further information, please contact Jane Williams by phone, or email
