CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

At Epsom Methodist Church we have a very active Children and Family programme full of events, videos and groups for children up to 12 years old. Currently most of our events are online but everyone is welcome and there is something for everyone.
 
Our Children and Families Leader is Hannah de Bourcier. She has hair all colours of the rainbow (so you can’t miss her!) and she’s got a lot of experience with children as she’s got five of her own.

We host Messy Church most months, at the moment this is via zoom but we are looking forward to being able to meet in person as soon as we are allowed. Messy Church is for anyone from 6 months to 14 years old and is an hour of crafts, a drama, games and chat. Head over to the Messy Church page for more details and to sign up.


The FAME online Children and Family Service stars Hannah and "Obadiah the Ostrich", there you can find a series of 15 minute programmes featuring stories and songs for children and families.

We are just starting up Little Fishes & Little Minnows on Tuesday and Friday mornings specifically for young children (under 5s) and their parents or carers. It would be great to see you there but to ensure we are covid secure places are limited, so please sign up here.



There is the Youth Group on Wednesday evenings on Zoom, 6.30-7.30pm during term time, for 8 - 13 year olds. We watch part of the FAME service together and chat about the story and its relevance today, play games and generally have an EPIC time!

Every Summer we run a Holiday Club where children aged 5 to 15 years old get together (in person or via zoom). Each year has a different theme, the last one was the Jungle Academy which was full of games, stories and fun activities, and this year we are very excited to announce we will have the BIG GREEN TREASURE MACHINE on 24th-27th August 2021 so SAVE THE DATES!!!


In the past we have run a number of special events for children including Christmas pantomimes, Easter parties, Christingle services and Nativity services. We will keep the website updated with details of anything that is going on so keep an eye out for any news.



EMC has its own Nursery "Ready Teddy Go" for about thirty children aged two and three, they attend for up to 30 hours per week in term time.

Beyond Lockdown:

We are hopeful, and anticipating, that very soon we will be able to restart some of our groups that we've had to put on hold, so keep an eye out for the latest information and updates to what’s going on at EMC. Here’s a little bit about some of the things we’ve had to pause over the last year, but will be back soon…

Each week at our 10.30am Sunday Service we have Pulse our Junior Church which is for children from age 3 up to and including school year 6; the children learn about the Bible and God’s love for every one of us with fun games, crafts, stories and discussions. There is also a creche for children under 3 years old.

We are hoping the Little Monkeys toddlers play group will be up and running again in September, for more information watch this space.



EMC hosts one of the most active Methodist Church links in the UK with Explorer Scouts, Scouts, Rangers, Guides, Cubs, Brownies, Beavers and Rainbow groups meeting weekly at the church.



In addition, there are several commercial groups who run children's classes and meet at EMC and provide a wide range of activities for children of all ages.

We take safeguarding our children very seriously and so all staff and volunteers who are involved with children's activities have DBS clearance and have completed appropriate training.
